Congratulations, you’re expecting a tiny human! Hopefully, you’ve read my blog post, 5 Reasons Why You Should Take Maternity Photos and now you’re planning a session. This means you’re also wondering where to shop for the perfect maternity photoshoot dresses. So today, I’m sharing what to look for in a maternity dress and where to shop maternity photoshoot dresses.
What to Wear to a Maternity Photoshoot
First things first, what should you wear to your session? Your body is going through so many beautiful but at times uncomfortable changes. You’ll want to make sure you feel beautiful and comfortable in whatever you choose. Typically, I recommend wearing a dress for an elegant and timeless feel. But you could also go a more intimate route with a lace robe or comfy cute with an oversized sweater. Today I’m going to be focusing on dresses and specifically the best places to shop for maternity photoshoot dresses. If you have questions about styling be sure to check out Session Styling Every Mother Needs to Know.
Some photographers also offer client wardrobes, so make sure you check with them when booking if this is an option for you. Currently, I offer a client wardrobe for my mamas and a select few children’s items. This closet is gradually expanding with intentionally selected high-end items to flatter mothers in all stages.
Where to Shop for Maternity Photoshoot Dresses
1. Pink Blush
Pink Blush has a huge selection of formal, maxi, and midi dresses that photograph beautifully. Their prices are super affordable and I’ve been very pleased with everything I’ve ever ordered from them. They also have a Maternity Plus size selection, so if you’re looking for a wider range of sizes, start here!
2. Morning Lavender
This is another great site to look through for cute and affordable maternity dresses. There are so many pretty floral prints on this site if you are looking for a nice print. I recommend staying away from big and bold prints. You’ll want to make sure you are the main focus, not your dress’s pattern.
3. A Pea in the Pod
These dresses range from $100 and up. There’s not as large of a selection as some other sites mentioned. However, A Pea in the Pod offers very timeless pieces and great quality.
4. Shein Maternity
Shein takes trendy pieces from top retailers and makes lower quality, lower priced versions. This means it wouldn’t be the best option for items you want to wear again and again throughout your pregnancy. Although this is a perfect option for those one-time events like photoshoots! And to get you through those last couple of weeks when nothing fits.
5. Amazon Maternity
Amazon is a great budget-friendly option and fast shipping option. Those last few months really do go so fast. If pregnancy brain totally got to you, you’ll definitely want to check out these Amazon Finds. I created a whole board of dresses that would photograph beautifully!
