5 Things I Wish Clients Knew

Today, I want to get a little more personal and share the 5 things I wish clients knew before working with me. These are the things I think and hope I translate before you even book with me, but just in case you’re not sure – here are the 5 things I wish my clients knew.

5 Things I Wish Clients Knew

1. I love smiling and looking but the magic lies in the moments together

Everyone wants that perfect family portrait of everyone looking at the camera and smiling together. But I believe that the magic of family – your family – is in the moments together. When you’re engaging with each other. The loving look of mom and dad, the giggle shared between dad and his little girl, or a warm embrace from mom. These are the moments, the feelings you’ll want to remember.

2. It’s your session, together we’ll capture how you want to remember your family

This isn’t your average session. I don’t just want to come to every session with the same old prompts. I want to capture the way you feel about your family. Do you want to remember the soft, quiet, and simple moments or the fun, joyful, natural moments of this stage of parenthood? Both are meaningful and important. Knowing your intentions for a session helps establish the flow of my poses and prompts. Together, we’ll document your vision for the session.

3. My client closet is growing

This is something I’ve been very excited to start implementing for my families. The client closet removes the session planning stress and saves so much time and money! I want you to be able to show up and relax knowing all the details are taken care of.

4. I want you to have printed portraits to hold onto for years to come

I know how important it is to get photos of you and your loved ones printed, instead of being lost in digital limbo. Life is so busy and it’s easy to forget to print your photos. This is why I’ve made print options such a priority in my current collections.

There have been countless studies that show the significance of printed photos of your children in your home, one of which is from  Phototherapy in Mental Health:

When children see photos of themselves and their family it gives them security and a sense of belonging. The power of print is especially important for children.  We have a responsibility to print our photos not only for our children but for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

5. I love your family

There’s not a family I’ve worked with that I haven’t loved and had a blast capturing their story. I’ve had the honor of getting to know so many wonderful families along the way and I’m so lucky to call the vast majority of them friends now. I love your family and I want to capture you all in the best light.

I hope these 5 things I wish clients knew helps you understand a little more about the process of working together to create your unique family portraits. If you have questions about what it’s like to work with me, reach out! Or get to know me a little better on Facebook or Instagram first. Regardless of whether you choose me as your family photographer, I hope you know how important your story is.
