With 2022 coming to a close, what better way to kick off the new year than reflecting on 5 of my favorite photos from the second half of the year. If you’re interested, you can also check out my 5 favorites from the first half of the year. As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, I love all my clients and all the photos I send in my client galleries (or I wouldn’t send them to you!). However, these 5 images I am especially fond of and I’ll share a few personal and technical reasons these portraits made the list!
Here are my 5 favorite photos from the second half of 2022
Marley & Marshall Newborn Twins
These little babes have a special place in my heart. They are the first newborn twins I’ve had the opportunity to photograph. I am absolutely obsessed with the connection in both of these photos and I couldn’t pick just one. In each of these photos, the focus is on their connection. I love that the first one still has their sweet faces in focus while capturing the little details of their hair, eyes, nose, and tiny fingers. However, the second one draws the eye to the natural connection they share with their little feet intertwining.
Schultz Maternity
I love everything about this photo! The beautiful colors, clean and even lighting, styling, hair, and makeup. Plus, I haven’t even mentioned that gorgeous maternity glow from this mama-to-be! The simplicity of this photo allows the viewer to feel the emotion of this moment. Whether you’re a new parent or a seasoned one, you’ll remember all the emotions of waiting for your baby to join you earth side. It is always my hope that my work evokes a feeling in anyone and takes the photographee back in time like an old favorite song.
Rosson Family
The subtle fall colors in this photo are so pretty and it’s one of the first things that catches my eye. The pretty fall colors in the trees and leaves, plus the path perfectly frame this family. Secondly, the connection between mom and dad in this photo is so pure and loving. As parents, you set the expectation for everything for your children. I strongly believe that the love you show your child in your relationship they will emulate and to me this feels like goals!

Amara’s One Year Milestone
Again, the simplicity and timelessness of this photo allow the viewer to focus on what’s important. The natural catch light in Amara’s eyes make them sparkle and draw you right in! Her sweet little expression is so cute and shows a bit of her growing personality. I also really enjoy the angle of this photo. As a mother, this is your view of your little one when they begin walking and find their way to you while cooking or cleaning to tell you something. I’m sure even in the couple of months since this photo was taken, Amara has grown and changed. But this mama will always get to remember that feeling when reflecting on this photo.

Allie & Abigail Motherhood
First of all, the framing of this photo is so pretty. I used my 85mm lenses for this image and the bokeh is just beautiful (how the background falls out of focus). We found this natural path in the woods and I loved how the trees formed this tunnel-like path to immerse them.
Secondly, I am obsessed with the relationship between mama and daughter in this photo. This was a maternity and family session for Allie, while you can’t clearly see the bump in this photo, the joy of motherhood clearly shines through. There is such a special love for the little one that made you a mom as well as a fear of balancing the love equally and fully for baby number two. As a mother expecting my second child as well, this photo reminds me that the love between a mother and child is constant and unbreakable.
