Ella’s One Year Session Styling

There are so many adorable little girl and boy outfits to choose from when planning one year session styling. So today I wanted to chat a bit about what to plan for your toddler’s one year session wardrobe.

Plan for Two Outfits at your Session

Typically a one year session includes two outfits, more specifically one that you don’t mind getting icing on! Ella’s mama came prepared with two great options for the session! Keep in mind that sometimes one year olds don’t have the attention span for too many outfit changes. In this case, Ella did great and handled two outfits plus a cake smash outfit from the client wardrobe. Not sure what to plan for the cake smash part of the session, ask me about what is available in the client wardrobe to make this easy as cake (see what I did there).

Think about Birthday Themes

This is such a valid point that you may never have thought about before. Chances are good you just want photos to document this milestone, BUT what if you include your little one’s portraits as decor at the party.

Ella’s birthday theme was Happy First Bee Day! Similar to this theme on Etsy. Her outfits had gold and yellow tones that perfectly complimented this theme and doubled as the cutest decor.

Show your Baby’s Best Side

Not only are the photos a great decor option but they also show your little one in the best light! If you’re really ahead of the game, you can include a photo on the invite to share with family that might not be able to make it to the party. Have a print for family members as a party favor or put your favorites on display at the birthday party. It’s a great way to showcase your baby’s pretty smile, laughs, and personality. Even if they’re not having it at the party… you try being a one-year-old with tons of people staring at you when you’re overdue for a nap.

All the being said, I hope this helps with planning one year session styling.
