Rosalie’s Nursery

As someone that puts a lot of care in everything I do, I knew I wanted Rosalie’s nursery to have hidden magic throughout it. I also knew that my husband and I are planning on having multiple babies in this home and wanted it to be as gender-neutral as possible. I chose Natural Linen paint color from Sherwin Williams and complimented with white furniture to create a very light and airy effect.

The first item I want to share from her nursery is her sign. It is very special to me because my dad helped me create it. I followed this Pinterest tutorial to create it and I used a projector to trace, then paint the letters. I’ll stop right there, it was time-consuming and there’s a lot of great Etsy accounts that will tackle all of these steps for you. I love creating and wanted to put every ounce of love I could into this sign. My dad was able to be apart of this project too. Helping me with the frame and giving it an extra special touch from Nonno. I couldn’t be happier with the results. For my Harry Potter fans, I did steal the quote from the seventh movie, if you know then you’ll completely understand! It’s a little added magic that I (and now you) know about.

Hanging from her crib, there’s an angel that plays a sweet lullaby. A gift from her Grammy and Grampy. This angel is from Italy, marking her heritage and the love and blessing her family is constantly wishing upon her.

After my husband and I decided on our daughter’s name, this was the first personalized piece I bought for her. Typing out her name in the order form made it feel so real. This piece tied her room altogether, a little bit of magic and the exact vibe I was trying to create, light and airy.

My cousin and bestie brought me this beautiful IKEA dresser from the Columbus store. The crib and shelves are from Target and the mirror and bench are both Goodwill finds. I bought the bench for $20 and painted it white to fit Rosie’s nursery. It opens to hold even more stuffed animals. I did a quick google search and the plastic ones from Walmart sell for $80 or more. The mirror my sister found for baby Rosie was a Project 62 brand originally $60, bought at Goodwill for only $20! Goodwill is the best place to shop for accent pieces for a baby’s nursery.

On her shelf, I have a picture of her ultrasound where you can clearly see her little profile. It melted our hearts and we hope it always reminds us of the joy we felt bringing this little life into the world.

I have a framed art print of the lyrics to “You Are My Sunshine” on her shelf. I distinctly remember my mom singing this song to me when I was little, thinking she was silly and also the feeling the love she had for me in every word. I’ve always wanted to emulate this to my own babies, there was nothing more perfect than this.

I also purchased the Baby’s First Year book as a recommendation from a friend. I choose the rainbow album because it doubles as an art print for her shelf. The rainbow to me symbolizes unity, the different colors coming together becoming more powerful and beautiful. This love is something I always want my daughter to understand and show to others.

I credit my love of reading to my Zia Donna, who was an elementary teacher and introduced me to the Harry Potter series. I asked for the trunk of the full Harry Potter series one year for Christmas. The glasses were a gift from a friend and the owl a gift from Zia and my stepmom Margee, who clearly understand my love of all things HP. I can’t wait to read these stories to my babies when they’re of age. As for now, they will serve as a beautiful reminder that “happiness can always be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

I purchased the “Once Upon a Time” throw pillow during my time in the Disney College Program, where I met some of the most amazing, magical people that are still a part of my life today. This quote is a reminder that this is only the beginning of Rosalie’s story. I wish and pray for only happily ever afters for her, but all the little details of her nursery show that there is an army of people to love her if she ever has a bad day.
